ӰƵ Ashtabula Wine Degrees Receive $180,000 Research Grant From Ohio Grape Industries Committee
ӰƵ Ashtabula’s Viticulture and Enology programs were recently awarded a $180,000 grant from the Ohio Grape Industries Committee for a pair of research projects to be conducted over the next two years. ӰƵ Ashtabula is partnering with the Ashtabula Agricultural Research Station, a division of the Ohio ӰƵ University College of Food, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences’ Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center, to conduct the projects at Markko Vineyards in Conneaut, Ohio.
ӰƵ’s Brain Health Research Institute Celebrates ‘Collaboratories’ Grand Opening
ӰƵ’s Brain Health Research Institute celebrated the grand opening of its new lab spaces on Friday, Nov. 5, with an afternoon of activities that included a keynote presentation, space dedication, tours and student research demonstrations. The new space, featuring interdisciplinary research facilities, is located on the lower level of the Integrated Sciences Building on the Kent Campus.
ӰƵ Reaches Record Graduation Rate, Boasting Highest Graduation Rate in Northern Ohio
ӰƵ’s current graduation rate is the highest among public universities in Northeast Ohio and fifth highest among all of Ohio’s public universities, behind Ohio ӰƵ, Miami, the University of Cincinnati and Ohio University. In northern Ohio, the graduation rates of other public universities range from 40 to 55 percent.

For the 10th time, ӰƵ is being recognized as a “Great College to Work For,” according to the latest survey by the Great Colleges to Work For program. The program recognizes the colleges that get top ratings from their employees regarding workplace practices and policies.
‘I AM FIRST’ Week of Celebration Recognizes First-Generation Students
National First-Generation College Celebration is on Nov. 8, and ӰƵ is hosting a weeklong celebration filled with campus-wide activities and learning opportunities to recognize students who will be the first in their family to graduate with a four-year degree.

ӰƵ Receives $1.2 Million Federal Grant to Assist Adults in College Enrollment
The U.S. Department of Education has awarded ӰƵ a nearly $1.2 million, five-year TRIO Educational Opportunity Centers program grant. The program is designed to provide support services to qualified adults, including veterans, who want to enter or continue a program of postsecondary education.
29 ӰƵ Faculty Members Named in Top 2% of Scientists in Fields Worldwide
The report, published in the PLOS Biology journal, evaluated more than six million scientists across 22 different fields and 176 sub-fields from 1996 until 2019. The top 2% list is made up of more than 100,000 most-cited scientists who have authored at least five scientific papers.
ӰƵ’s Giving Tuesday Launches Monthlong Initiative Featuring Numerous Incentives for Supporters
ӰƵ, which has gained national recognition for its creative and successful Giving Tuesday campaigns, launched its monthlong celebration of philanthropy on Nov. 1. Giving Tuesday, now in its eighth year at ӰƵ, has raised nearly $7 million during that time, which illuminates the impact that can be made when Golden Flashes come together.
