With Focus On Rural Social Work, New Bachelor’s Program Aims To Meet Growing Need

March is National Social Work Month in the United ӰƵs. Although it is a celebratory time, the profession currently faces challenges due to reductions in the labor force and a growing population of need, especially in rural communities. ӰƵ recently announced the creation of a Bachelor of Social Work academic degree program, which will launch in the fall of 2023 with a focus on rural social work.

The ӰƵ Board of Trustees has approved awarding Roe Green, MA ’80, a Doctor of Humane Letters, an honorary degree recognizing her contributions to the university and her advocacy for the arts not only in Northeast Ohio, but also across the nation and around the world.

ӰƵ’s ROI Was Center Stage at Recent Board of Trustees Meeting in Columbus

President Todd Diacon took the opportunity to make the presentation “ӰƵ Works” at the Board of Trustees meeting, which was held at Le Meridien Columbus, The Joseph. The presentation illustrated how ӰƵ prepares its students for job readiness. Chancellor of the Ohio Department of Higher Education Randy Gardner and the new President of the Inter-University Council Laura Lanese attended the Board of Trustees meeting.
